Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Veterinary Sterile Processing Assistant to join our veterinary hospital team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use, contributing to the smooth operation of our veterinary surgical and procedural services. Additional support may be required for assistance with patient care and handling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean Instruments: Thoroughly clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment according to hospital protocols.
- Pack Instruments: Accurately assemble, pack, and prepare instruments and surgical packs for sterilization.
- Sterilize Instruments: Operate sterilization equipment, ensuring that all instruments are properly sterilized and stored in a sterile environment until needed.
- Assist with Stocking Operating Rooms: Help maintain a well-organized and fully stocked operating room by replenishing supplies and equipment as needed.
- Assist with Cleaning Operating Rooms: Support the cleaning and disinfection of operating rooms between procedures to maintain a sterile and safe environment.
- Assist with Restraint and Induction: Provide assistance with the restraint and induction of patients as needed, ensuring the safety and comfort of the animals.
- Task Lists: Complete daily, weekly, and monthly task lists as assigned, ensuring that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
- Check-In with Appointment Team/Other Services: Regularly communicate with the appointment team and other services to ensure smooth coordination and readiness for upcoming procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Attention to Detail: Must be meticulous in handling instruments and following protocols to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and sterility.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to anticipate needs, troubleshoot issues, and make informed decisions quickly.
- Good Communication: Strong communication skills for effective interaction with the surgical team, other departments, and external contacts.
- Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing situations and priorities, particularly in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Organization Skills: Must be well-organized, able to manage time effectively, and keep accurate records of tasks completed.
Required Knowledge:
- Knowledge of sterilizers, sterilization techniques, decontamination, infection control, and surgical instruments is a plus.
Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience--projected compensation $20-22/hr
